Was it not 1986 that we went from 3 to 4 wheel profiles on quads. Also this is all I know 1986? red plastic 200-250 cc four stroke, rear racks, auto clutch, electric start, has pull rope in case of battery faliure. What would be you guess this is? Its not mine Im just trying to get some info for a friend.

i used to have a 1984 trx200 utility quad, front and rear racks, electric start, pull start back up, four stroke, auto clutch, red plastics, and i believe they also made a 250 version of this quad, as a matter of fact i still have my old 200 and it is a major beast, tops out around 40 mph tho
lol hope ya have as much fun with your beast as i did mine

If it has a recoil starter as a backup, the only quads left in that era is the TRX125 and TRX200[84] and TRX200SX[86-88].
All of the 250s had a kick starter as a back up regardless of model.
The 1984 TRX200 is shaft drive and has a Hi/Lo range selector on the left side of the engine.
The 1986-1988 TRX200SX is chain drive and does not have Hi/Lo range
Another giveaway, is that the 1984 had the troublesome single trailing arm front suspension while the 1986-1988 SX models had a single true A-frame.
