300ex bogs down at 3/4 throttle, please help
#1
Changed a few things on my 300ex today and I'm not sure If I did them correctly or if its just a minor adjustment that I need to do. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
Added a k&n filter, and took the air box lid off
then I changed the needle and the main jet to a DJ110
set the fuel mixture screw to 3 turns out
When finished I took it out for a test drive, it sounds great and the first 50% of throttle is grand, but as soon as I open it up, she instantly bogs down mega. Is it running to rich or too lean? Or did I put the wrong size of a jet on? My elevation is 3,000 feet.
It's a 2002 300ex, and I'm relatively new to the sport quad world, just looking for a way to gain more Horse Power, Any help would be nice, even if I did drastically screw things up.
Thanks

A #110 Main jet is way too small. You should be running at least a #128 or bigger with the mods you listed.
Put the airbox lid back on and try it. You will find that it will run better with it on with that small jet you are running.
Have you looked at your sparkplug for it's appearance??

uhmmm.... yeah... well... hmmm.... lets see.... well.... uhmm I think maybe someone should close this here topic to lessen my humiliation. You see, i kind of forgot to add this "main jet adapter" thing in there, yeah well... it runs perfect now... I put the airbox lid back on it too, still perfect...
well thanks for your help, but yeah....

OK. I am too @ 3000 ft. and that alone will make you run rich! Keep an eye on your plug, trust me. Been going through this for days now, check all my threads After you ride the bike with a new plug, check it. Curious to see what you see, please post back OR email me.

Well Nuclear300EX Man. Don't feel too bad about not adding that little extra part. I've been there and done that. How about rebuilding a carb on a TRX300FW, putting it together, bolting the carb on and installing everything else you took off.....just to discover a shiney tiny little part on the work table...the float needle. Well, keep the faith...kech22
