I have a 1982 200 atc. I have a bit smaller tires on it and need to gear it up.. I have decided to replace the front gear with a smaller one. Will the honda shop have one available or will i have to get it somewhere else. Just a thought we have a farm and fleet stoer which has a lot of sprockets would one of those possible fit on it.

a smaller front gear will lower the gearing, you need to go to a larger sproket for the front. Honda may have one, but a decent sized catalog order place such as Dennis Kirk will have them.

Thanks, when i said make the gear smaller i had a brain dump. Do ya think that a sprocker found at a farm store would fit by any chance.

I'm not sure, but I think that for every tooth added, 2mph will be added.DO NOT try this unless someone else has also heard it.I would try playing with the rear sprocket instead of the front. If you add to many to the front the chain won't fit between the sprocket and the case.Or the small case saver won't work.

I would not take a chance on a sprocket from that farm supply as the pitch of the teeth would probably not match your chain's pitch. Any good cycle accessory shop or Honda dealer could advise you on the correct sprocket. I would think it would not be more than $20. Keep in mind that a bigger c/s sprocket will require more chain length so be sure you have enough adjustment to allow for it
