shifting clutch

hey guys, i just ggot a used honda 400ex 2001 but only 20 hours on it and i am wondering if it is true thatyou dont have to use your clutch to shift? i have been told that you can use the clutch and will save it longer but you dont have to use your clutch to shift....please give me your feedback

You have to use the clutch to shift man... Read the owners manual if it came with one, It will tell you the proper way to shift gears.
Almost positive that if you don't use your clutch you will really mess things up, all your gears and stuff will fall apart = bad :-0

You can get by without using the clutch on downshifts as long as you are letting the R's drop enough so you are not over-revving the engine. On upshifts, you should use some clutch to take the load off of the tranny, even if you do not fully disengage it. The owners manual tends to be overly conservative so that the manufacturer can limit its liability with regards to warrenty work or lawsuits.
