Rincon Recall
#1
I was about to leave to go pick up my new Rincon when the phone rang. It was the dealer and they told me certain Rincons were being recalled due to bad torque on one of the control arms (of course mine was one). I won't know anything else until Monday when the dealer can contact Honda for more details. Anyone else heard anything yet or is my dealer jerking my chain?

Alaskan,
The recall is real.
However, It shouldn't have kept you from getting your Rincon. He could have had someone in the shop check the torque while he was on the phone with you.
It only takes about 5 minutes to do it.....even if the torque was wrong.
Congrats on your new ride.

I HAVEN'T HEARD ANY THING YET ON THE RECALL, BUT IT'S A WEAK MACHINE,WHEN YOU HAVE TO GO DOWN THE STEEP GRADES THAT ARE ON THE HATFIELD AND MCCOY TRAIL. VERY HARD BRAKING IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL SLOW YOU DOWN. I HAVE 2 HONDA 300 4X4 THAT HAVE NO PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA. HONDA SURE GOOFED WHEN THEY BUILT THIS MACHINE,BUT MAYBE IT'S FOR FLAT COUNTRY??

It sounds to me like your dealership may have sold the unit that you had purchased and made up a story that the one you bought has a recall and they need to torque down a bolt and they wont have it done til next week. It takes just as long to tighten (torque) down a bolt & nut as it does to fill it up with gas. I would be questioning the dealership on there honesty. I just bought a 2003 Yam. Wolverine for my wife and the day after we picked it up becasue it quit running a little past idle and they said to bring it back ASAP and they will fix itwhile we wait. I ended up listening to one of my buddies that told me to take the bowl off the carb and check to see if the main jet fell out, sure enough I actuall found a very small spider in the bottom of the bowl. Put it back together and away she went. Seriously I would call them at there bluff on the torque thing!
I'm out, back to work.

There is nothing wrong with recalls but this makes me "recall" some things I have read about Honda always getting it right the first time, and some negative talk about a recent recall by (I believe) Suzuki..... Makes you say Hmmmm.....
