Wolverine, Rancher, or Foreman?
#1
I intend to purchase an ATV but I am finding it difficult to choose which make and model. I started out looking at the Wolverine, mainly for its suspension travel and lighter weight. The Honda Rancher seems to give a lot more for the money though, but seems more utility. If I go for the more utility of the Rancher, maybe the Foreman would be better. The truth is, I don't know how much sport I really need. I will be using it primarily for trail riding and I probably will not get to wild on it, but I do like to play. I plan to purchase a plow even though we get very little snow here, so I want a 4x4. I take good care of my "toys" and tend to keep them a long time, so I want one I will remain happy with. I have owned many Honda's over the years, '70 ATC 90, '71 Trail 70, '73 SL100, '83 XL600, (all purchased new), so I tend to lean toward the Honda's. (I still own the '71 Trail 70 and it still looks and runs like new). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am a Polaris man myself but for some reason I really like the Rancher better than the Foreman. It just depends on how big a quad you want to ride. And if I was looking at a Yamaha I would look at the new 00Kodiak 400. Good luck in making your decision.

hey there i got a 450s honda foreman and love it.
it may not have the sporty take off and speed but
it's still a lot of fun for a 15 year old because i am a 15 year old. Anyways they are sporty and fast enouf for me so it's good enouf for you. But
good luck choosing between them.

I have a RancherES and a Foreman 450s . The Rancher is deffinately a better riding bike than the Foreman but the Foreman deffinately has more power . If you are going to do alot of heavy work or deep snow driving in terran with alot of hills the Foreman is your better choice . If you are looking for alittle of everything with a good ride then the Rancher is the way to go .

Get a Kawasaki Bayou 220. Those things are massive with loads of power to do anything like get stuck or left behind, ohh yeahh baby get a 220.You dont need a 4x4 when you got as much power as a Bayou 220!If you like getting blown away by your frinds on there bigger atvs then you will love a 220. Its so amazing to sit back and watch how easy it is to get stuck even with bearclaws on the back.So go ahead and get yourself the best a Bayou 220!

pick up the rancher, as it is sporty and can haul a load or plow with ease.. the woverine is a fast bike that loves jumps and the forman is a grunt beast that can handle anything..but the rancher is a super fun bike that combines both perfectly.

Sounds like the Rancher or Wolverine would be good choices for you. Neither quad is better than the other because you can't really compair them.
Here is my opinion of both. The Wolverine is a 4x4 Warrior and the Rancher is a beefed up TRX 300 4x4. They would both be good trail quads. If you want more sport WOLVERINE, if you want more utility RANCHER.

You need to ride them all! I finally got a chance to ride with a Wolverine this weekend on my Foreman. I couldn't (at least with the guy that was on the Wolverine) tell that much differance in performance. Obvoiusly there are monumental differances. Ground clerance, suspension travel, POWER, apperiance etc. This guy had 26" vamps and I went everywhere that he did. By the way, he was very dissapointed with the way the heav Vamps robbed his stock power. We weren't taking any major jumps, and we never got wide open (over probably 45 MPH or so) but as far as in the woods and especially on hills, he couldn't lead, where I couldn't follow. In fact, on one nasty hill, I had to convince him that he could do it. Anyway, back to the point. All 3 of these machines are more than capable of doing what you want to do with them. If your leaning toward sportyness, go with the Yamaha. If your leaning more toward the Utility and raw pulling power, go with the Foreman. If your somewhere in between, go with the Rancher. One more thing to keep in mind is resale! I know that you intend to keep this machine forever, but when someone builds a 750 or 1000, you may want to trade up. Check around your area and see what each model is bringing a couple years old. Good luck with whatever you deside.
