I am putting this question on this page because I am leaning toward the Polaris Xpedition 425 and i want to see what your opinion is on the Honda Rancher4x4 es.

My friend has a Rancher and I really like it but a lot of people say that the Xpedition is better because of the true four wheel drive. I have also heard that they do not require as much maintance as the Sportsman. I also like that they are not automatic because a lot of people have had trouble with the PVT belt.

 

aby11, If you want maintenance free go with the rancher,if your not afraid of a grease gun buy the xpedition. The rancher is the best riding honda I've ever riddin , much better ride than the 450's and there new front sure trac works well. Managed to get the rancher up to 52 on hardpack. The xpedition's ride is smoother and it has another 5-6 mph top end. As far as maintenance the xpedition has grease zerks on the u-jionts, swingarm pivets, a-arms and balljionts. These require greasing once every 500 or so miles, more if you mud it or ride in deep water. The xpeditions awd drive is better in a couple of ways , first 2wd option power slides are FUN! gives the bike a sportier feel. Second true 4wd is better than the hondas limited slip, although the sure trac is much better than previous versions of hondas limited grip front ends. Well theres my 2 cents worth tried to unbiased as possible. Truth being you wont go wrong with either. Me I'll take my xplorer anyday theres nothing like a 2-stroke for fun on the trails! p.s. i've never had a problem with my sportsman or xplorer's belt even with water to the racks!

i liek the extra cc power, but relyablitly very power i wouldn't go for the power!
the es is great as well plus, it is cheaper and is still the better chose!
