could someone please explain to me how to adjust the throttle cable on a 300ex? someone told me i might need to adjuust it

I assume you need to remove the excess play. To remove the slop, first loosen the lock ring (slide the boot away from the adjuster) and then turn the adjuster nut counterclockwise, or away from the throttle itself, until there is only a slight amount of play in the throttle. It's best to do this with the engine running. after adjusting out the play, and with the engine running, turn the bars to full lock in both directions. If any increase in RPMS is noted you have the cable too tight. Turn the adjuster clockwise slightly until you can turn the bars full lock without any increase in RPMs. be sure to tighten the lock ring securely and replace the boot.
