400ex performed well in drag races!

Please note that Honda 400ex's are also dominating the GNCC 4-stroke STOCK class.
Once again, I believe that is mainly due to rider abilities, not quad abilities.
I would probably own a Cannondale or a Z400 if I hadn't already sunk a lot of money into my 400ex. In addition, my riding ability is still far below what my 400ex can provide. No reason to buy a better quad until then.

Modded......it comes down to rider. If you're beating 400EX on the track with your 250X you apparently are a better rider than they are. Your the 1st I've heard of a 250X outrunning a Mojave in a drag race. But, I'm comparing the machines (again, assuming all variables equal) I will agree with you, the Mojave may not have a place in MX racing, but again, it's the rider. There is a Lakota rider in here that outruns 400ex's in MX racing. So AGAIN, it's the rider. PM him if you want to know more. He is Gaff.
My point to the modded machines in GNCC was not that the HONDA's are modded and the others arn't, they all are. We all know this. It boils down to the rider. I thought I had hinted at that when talking about this type of caliber.
And, to your comment as far as Honda prevailing for the past 16 years, I think we'll be able to agree that is Honda' AFTERMARKET that has been prevailing.
You can continue to try and pick my statements apart if you like, however, my ONLY point is that the Z is a better value for the money over the EX. If you want your EX to run like a Z you will have to spend additional money on it. Even if you do, you will never have reverse, liquid cooling, dual overhead cams, or a brake light (I'm sure you can rig one of though). I'm still not sure how you are defending a EX, considering buying one and not looking at the Z. What exactly is it about the Z that you don't like? What part of the performance of the Z do you not like as well as the EX? And, why is it I feel like you are jumping to the defensive when you don't even have an EX? Dude, if you want one that bad, go get one. Don't let me or anyone else tell you not to. But, there are better choices and that doesn't help kick Honda in the butt to bring out something new. Trust me, I would love for Honda to come out with something that kicks everyones butt. I love the sport and the competition is what makes it great. I'll take the best for what suites me regardless of who makes it.

A few thoughts:
I don't following racing but it seems to me that since Honda has had a 400cc machine for so long there would be more onthe track and thus domininant. Give it time - I'll bet that as more Zs get into racing the tide will sway towards it.
ModdedX, you are doing exactly what you are condemning. Praising a quad based upon brand loyalty. Face it, the 400ex has seens it's day. Oh, stebob nailed when he said a pipe gives 2 hp max on a 400ex - that's not a lot but it is not trivial either. The Z motor has more potential - you obviously don't understand that it is not just about CCs or compression ratio - head design, cams, valvetrain, etc all paly a part. Ohn and your story about the stock 400ex keeping up with the piped Banshee is BS. Everybody knows better than that. Stock Banshees kill piped 400exs. It's time for you to open your eyes - the 400ex is outclassed.
Either way, ride what you got and enjoy it - even if it is slower than the competition.

Fred,
I'm with you on that!
I'm really not trying to be agrumentative, with anyone other than moddedx!
It's all good and the competition is making it a lot better!

Of course my story is BS, you weren't there and you know it all! Even the riders couldn't believe it hence the reason the multiple passes and switching!
You guys can say all you want about the Z and other being better and the EX being outclassed, we'll just have to see what the future brings. I am keeping my opinion of Honda being on top!

I love bringing up arguments!
But as I said to Wyo, I am sticking with Honda for the long run. Many have tried competeing before and they have always failed!

This is why there are choices! Ah, the greatness of freedom! Your true Honda. I've met many. Ignorance is bliss! j/k!!! (not really )
Anyway, as long as you recongnize that you lost this argument! Sorry, I usually don't go after people, but for some reason Modded, you struck me. Don't matter, we all love quads. They have changed our lives and added a great deal of pleasure we may have never experienced any other way in life.
Your story may very well be true, in fact, I don't doubt it. The reason for that is because I've seen a lot of things go down in my life much more strange than that. For all we know the Banshee was running on 1 cylinder. Something was wrong somewhere. You've been around quads long enough to know that yourself, I'm sure.

Y'all (for the most part) sound so insecure about things, that you must say, "my bike is better than your bike", blah blah blah blah blah blah. My bike is perfect for me. I ride it because it has the features that suit me and my riding style. I ride for the love of the ride, and not for the brand of the ride, for brand loyalty gets you nothing, absolutely nothing. Look at Harley, you'll pay too much for what you get, and will spend more time wrenching than most. I know, I grew up around Harleys my whole life. Ya just have to remember not what our differences are, but what we all have in common and that is the love of the ride. This bickering is just phucking stupid. Love what you ride, ride for the love.

Yes, I guess you can call me true Honda, but I dont see how I loose this argument? I apologize also as that I dont usually go after people either. BUt this topic strikes a nerve. Everytime some other company comes out with a new quad alot of people talk shiat on the Hondas for whatever reason. But wake up and face facts.(as far as the past goes) Other companies have come out with alot of different quads, but Honda always is on top no matter what the other company adds to their new machine. THis is my argument as well as it not being very impressive ot be only 2 HP higher in power with all the new "Modern" technology in the engine. If you lighten the flywheel on the 400 and bump up the compression, I am sure the EX will be on the smae line if not higher than the more Modern Z engine. As far as the Banshee/400 race arguement... It suprizes me, but then again it doesn't.. Fourstrokes grab alot better than the 2 strokes and the 400 has good power... I guess one side of the ground they were dragging on was soft and the other was hard so they switched side with similar outcomes. I was suprised until the person that told me this is trustworthy... Althogh I may be under estimating the riding abilities of the 400 rider and the Banshee rider may be under my expectations. Althoguh I thought the 400 guy said they switch rides, but I will double check that info tonight. Steb, I hope you dont think of me as a Jerk, but this subject comes up everytime a new quad comes out. Just trying to uncloud everyones vision! Grant you, I am not saying go out and buy a Honda, you choose for yourself. Myself, I will stand beisde Honda. Even if someone makes a quad that will dethrone Honda, I will stand beisde it because they are reliable and well built and I am a loyal customer. But I doubt that will happen! Even if they copy the Honda, I am sure the Honda will be on top! Have a beer for me tonight!

I agree, I dont usually engage in arguements of this kind, but I was tired of seeing this "my bike is better than yours crap!" I am not saying the Hondas are better(although they are ) j/k I am just sticking up for somethign that people are ragging on! And I am stating that the past usually repaets itself!
