Seeing as how a Prairie 650 with very few mods has no problem smoking a 400EX in a drag I would think that it will make a great machine for those of us that like auto's. I personally hate a truck that I have to shift also. After riding bikes since the 70s I have decided to get lazy. My diesel is even backed up by an automatic and my Z400 is for sale. PM me if interested.

Are you willing to submit to a race. They will blow the 400EX completely out of the water with very few mods in the 100 yard drags . And I have seen several stock Banshees meet the same fate. Don't underestimate a P650 that has been modded with clutch changes, intake improvements and a slip-on. The cams from Penland really wake them up also. And the stock engine will make close to 65 horsepower at the flywheel with an aftermarket CDI that isn't available to the public yet. 65 is a long ways from the 27.5 that the 400EX makes. They are extremely fast from 0-55 and will be even faster as soon as the CDI unit is able to be changed. The few that are running at our local dirt drags not only run in the Utility class but also in the high performance class and in the open mod class and both the Grizz with mods and the Prairie with mods generally go a bunch of rounds until a modded Raptor or Banshee takes them out. Anyone that thinks the new 700 is going to be slow because of the auto is in for an awakening. The only things that will be competing with the 700 in the dunes and drags will be well built Raptors and DS650s.

its true the prairie can beat the EX in a drag. but so what? drags mean nothing. if i wanted a quad that was all top end i could have easily bought a banshee. throw a few doubles into the mix and the prairie will be easily beaten by the EX. i don't care how big or fast the new 700 is, i would love to see it keep up with the EX's and R's and cannons on the track. but then again thats just my type of riding. i know tons of people who use their quads for just cruisin around fast or drag racing and hey if thats your riding style then get the 700 because it will be a better quad for you.
