Probably not to good in a drag considering a raptor with a full pipe, K&N filter with airbox mods and jets can run 50hp and it'll take a lot more than a 440 kit to come close to that hp. The best I've seen for a non-alcohol/ non-turbo 440ex built to the max is 47hp. If the raptor wasn't widened and lowered you coulc probably take him on a track or in tight woods.

I don't know exactly what this kid had done to his 440 I think he just had the piston and stuff but i really wasn't impressed. I would through a cam in there at the same time as the 440 kit. I think that would do pretty well but i don't know for sure. My piped 400 ex kept up with a stock raptor up sand mtn. here in utah. ( i bet i get crap for that one)

They can eat a raptor up, like a curtis sparks 440. The only downside is the cost. My friend has a 440(built by hinshaws) that just kills the raptors(piped, filtered, jetted.)

I pull most piped raptors with my bike. As long as the rider dosnt weigh around 120 then i will pull him. I can imagine a fully built 440 would smoke a piped raptor.

A "correctly" built 440 will beat a piped Rap. Correct meaning bore, high comp piston, cam, head work, pipe, etc..

Right Randy? LMFAO

I have a 440 kit with a stage 2 hot cam and white bros eseries ex. and a K&n stage 2 jet kitand a pied and jetted raptor stands no chance at all. by the way a raptor only has 38 hp so tell me how by just jetting and ex takes it to over 50 hp isnt happening. but ive got a buddy that has a ds and he can spank my ***.

The Raptop is very choughed up from the factory. One of the mag when they did a test on one. They took all of the baffles out of the air tube and put a pipe on and it increased by over 10 hp. The Honda breaths more or better than the Raptor, that is why the Homda only goes up a few hp with just the pipe.

Jim, aka swytak, is correct a friend of mine has a Trinity built 440 set up to race flat track. I have a piped, jetted and open air box 01 Raptor. We drag raced a few weeks ago and yes he beat me three out of three times. The distance we raced wasn't that long maybe 60 yards. I thought because I was approximately45lbs heavier than him, it was a weight thing. My other buddy then raced him on his Raptor same mods as mine, (their body weights are the same), the 440 won three out of four times. In fact that day he beat everything he raced that day, piped banshees, z400's, 250r's and other raptors. I can't wait until next flat track season to see how he really does when I can really open up the Raptor.

Is your buddy's DS stock? Cause if it is and he is wooping you so will a Raptor as they are real close, my brother and I have raced many times!

If you read the rags they have tested a raptor with pipe and jet kit and no airbox lid and get 48-49 HP maybe that is with a "friendly" dyno I don't know. Here is the story with the dyno numbers believe what you like, I am not saying they are true just showing you Dirk did not just make the numbers up! http://www.dirtwheelsmag.com/detail.asp?id=143

I can Imagine a well built 440 could beat a piped and jetted Raptor. I have yet to see a fast 400ex so I do not know for sure, the only ones I have seen have just had pipe, jetting and airbox mods and they are no comparison straight line. I mean not even close in a race to 5th gear. As a matter of fact my buddy just bought a new cannondale because he was sick of eating rocks and dust on his EX. He cannot believe how much faster the cannibal is compared to his EX. The guys we ride with have DS650, Banshee, Lt500, Raptor Stock, 250R, My non stock Raptor and one is waiting for his new predator (can't wait to try that). By the way the bone stock Raptor crushes the Piped and Jetted Ex! It is not even a race.
