A friend of mine just bought a 450es from Canada.... Problem is that the display is all in kilometers... anyone know how to switch the display to mph/miles... I figure there must be a different sensor/box/?? that needs to be swapped out but not sure... none of the honda shops around here know..

any help would be appreciated

That post should be filed under who cares. Iam not sure why your friend would want to change it over to miles it would seem to be a waste of money and time only to tell him he is going 30 miles or 50 km's. There is a lot more things to spend your money on than trying to change the speedo, sorry thats my 2 cents or 7/8 of a penny.

gee thanks for that INFORMATIVE response...

I posted this question looking for information, not smart allect comments... because it doesn't matter to you does that mean that it doesn't matter to someone else??

When riding it is nice to be able to track how many miles... not kilometers.. a person has gone, and it would be nice to be able to see how fast a person is going without having to convert it! This is not my machine, it is a friends... and if it was my machine, I would want it changed too..

thanks in advance for any usefull information

I can see your point, the cost to change over would be more than your friends desire to change it over. He will have to learn how to change over like the rest of us up here even though he does not want too. I am not saying it is good i am still having trouble with it and i have been doing it for years. I still like inches and feet.

As far as the conversion from Kilometers to miles. I beleive the change may have to be in the electronic speedometer itself. The only sure way would be for your friend to phone a Canadian dealer and get a part # for the speedo and for the sensor, then phone his local dealer for part #'s for the same two articles and see which one has a different part #. As far as I know there is no computer control on this, so you can't hook it up to a laptop like they do in cars to re-program.
