Recon or Beartracker?
#22
Hey TrailBreaker70,
I'm also 14 years old and I have 2 Recon ESs and they are great.Havent had any problems with them yet. They're also a lot of fun in the snow whether your plowing or playing.I have never ridden a Beartracker but I know you can't go wrong with the Recon.

I think that they recon is way better than a beartracker. My cousin has a beartracker and it doesn't have as much power as my recon. I don't know how the ozarks are because I haven't even seen on out anywheres, so I can't help ya there.
The manufactures that make pipes for a recon are supertrapp, fmf, and procircuit, though with a little bit of welding you can get a 250 ex pipe.

I disagree the bear tracker is a bad a$$ machine. It will stomp the recon and ozark in the mudd!! I know because I lifted mine 2-3 inches and put 24 inch gators on it and i've been through more mudd than a recon with 25 inch gaotrs all the way around. The bear tracker is the way to go.
beartracker 250
high lifter lift kit
24inch gators rear
23inch mud lites front
k@n air filter and jet kit
3000lb tusk winch
supertrapp IDS2 muffler
moose hanblebars

Ok I had a beartracker for 2 years bought it new. 2 of my friends bought new recons the same time i got my bike. Heres what I feel about them.
I also weigh about 40 lbs more then the 2 of them. And They were both better riders then me at the timer.
In a drag stock they are dead even with the tracker being a little bigger bike. After I got a pipe( yes I piped a Beartracker) I was quite a bit faster.
In the water: it was beartracker hands down. It sits higher and the recons tended to get water bogged.
In Mud : it was the beartracker again.
Up hills: it was the recon hands down. Better low end and didn't want to pull wheelies in the middle of a hill.
Reliability : Kinda favored beartracker but close. Mine never broke and it has that big a$$ bumper and skidplate.
Handling : I would say recon it sits lower.
Jumping : Same they both kinda suck.
Looks: Whell there both kinda ugly but I would say if you are a little bigger get the tracker if you are smaller you'll favor the recon. Because it is kinda little.
Hauling: Hands down the beartracker. Much bigger racks. Plus it comes factory with a hith settup where as the reocn you have to buy one.

beartracker
I bought a 2003 beartracker last year. deep mud doest do good in with stock tires. lacks power to keep up with buddies 400 up hills and take-off but adacute for trail-riding. goes about 48-50 after engine broke in. only thing i dont like is rear drum brake, over tighted once, now brake fade is so bad i dont use it any more. goes dowm the road pretty good considering im almost 180lbs now. ps dont go over whoops to fast with it almost end-od mine. for the 3200 price tag i like cept for rear brake.
