California Gun Control Ruling
#31
Not to bash anyone from the States in any way, but I'm glad I live in a place where you don't need to own a gun to protect your home and business.
Up until a few years ago our local police department wasn't even armed. They had guns in the trunk but none on their person. They changed that to meet the demands placed on the department. Even though the number of crimes occuring with real guns is very low.
Where I live gun control is very strict. There are laws on what kind of guns you are allowed to own/use /and transport. for example hand guns are illegal to posses and carry/transport, but you are allowed to own them as a collector. You can even transport them top a licensed gun range to use them, but you have to have a transport document to do so.
Hunting rifles are less strict, if you have one in the woods you need an appropriate game license, ie high powered rifles - big game license, 12 ga. - small game license and a permit to carry a weapon. You can transport rifles as long as they are locked/unloaded not accessable fo ruse in the vechicle. Changes recently include registering of all firearms and a new system for Firearms Aquisition Certificate and/or permit to posses a waepon.
All in all whatever happens in the 9th district probably wouldn't be as strict as this, so its not all bad, I doubt they could make big changes like that now because the people and the criminals have been armed for so long its hard to go back. It's alot faster to arm the public than it would be to disarm them and teh criminal element. Kinda like drugs, they are illegal, but the cops can't keep THEM off the street, good luck getting guns off the street.
