A Heli-Coil will work great. I used one once to fix a sparkplug hole and it worked. You can get one at an auto parts store. You will have to buy the kit that is the size of your oil plug and all you do is retap the hole and thread the helicoil in. Use threadlock on it or RTV silicone for a good seal.

I think the kit I got was around $30 it was expensive because it comes with the tap and the tool to put the insert in. There might be cheaper ones though.

Try one of the automotive type self tapping oil plugs. They are cheaper and some of them even have a magnet built in that will trap any steel particles in the oil. They are not metric (you may find a metric available) but this is not a problem as they create their own threads as you insert them. They run about $10.00 and require no special tools. I have had good luck over long term use with them.

what i ended up doing was getting a self tapping plug with a piggy back incert in the middle so you wont have to mess with that soft allmunim when you change oil
