I have never raced a piped raptor, but it would probably win in a drag race. In anything other than straight line drag the R is probably the best quad ever made. Although cannondale and GasGas make some really nice quads today( which I have no experience with either of them) and they probably are better comparisons to the legendary R.

the new gasgas quad is very very nice... i have found only one flaw ...(not personal expereince, only what ive heard) is that the front a-arms are actulyl a lil to wide.. doesnt soound like much a problem to me but hey...

I raced a stock raptor on my stock 85 250r atc (faster than a quad), up a sand hill, and lost. And I lost more than once, actually every time. The sad part is the rider was a 12 yr. old girl.

A piped TRX250R w/ an open K&N will smoke a piped Raptor. Do some research & you'll discover that a stock TRX 250R, off the showroom floor, went 72 mph. A stock Raptor does 71 mph. Add the pipe & KN air filter & you'll always get more out of a 2-stroke. My '87 TRX 250R isn't stock, but it'll smoke any 660 Raptor, 350 Banshee, or any other production models out there... Low-end or Top-end.

You guys who say your losing to raptors should just stop while your ahead (of something at least). Ive never lost to a raptor on my honda's. And i doubt i ever will. Thats just plain crazy. I know some of them are getting in the 80's. But an 80 horse 2-stroke should still win in a flat out race. The 250r is a much better bike to jump, mx, tt, and drag race. Its much lighter, and a much better power to weight ratio. 250r's respond really well to mods (better then 4-strokes in my opionion). So stick with the honda, you'll be a lot happier.

You got that right... In my opinion, Honda is the only way to go. I'm eager to test the future CRF450R Quad. Should be out as a 2004 model @ the end of the year. It'll be untouchable......
