hey i was planning on getting a 416 kit my dealer said he would put it on for me , and i was wondering how much the 416 would be without labor i want a good fast kit no cheap crap like ims, im talkin curtis sparks fast, i was also wondering if i should get the 416, or just go all the way with 440, but with the 440 could i still be able to ride it every weekend? i can already hang or beat a stock raptor so i was wondering how much would it take to beat a stock banshee or say predator?

My prices would be in Canadain so thats no good to you *L*
416 will rev faster than anything bigger cause it has a lighter pistion making the top end better also, the bigger and the heavier the piston and bore the slower it will rev and be more torque though which is good.
With this fast reving you get vibration though, I had to replace all the valve cover bolts they were snaping like candy, and constantly going over the machine.
I have a WB rev box, 11:1, 87mm (416) ported and flowed, 5 angle valve job, WB Race Track cam 256 degree cam (WB other cam allround, is about the same as a stock XR which doesn't give you a noticable performance gain) also have a WB full pro-meg e-series. This bike works awsome, like night and day. I totally killed the reliablity though. Changing the oil every six hours sucks also. I have huge gains low mid and top it is perfectly built.
When I built the first time I left the stock clutch, after a year the clutch hubs and springs cause al;ot of metal to go through the engine and killed the rod. I spent the entire summer getting it back together, with a complete new crank up, the only thing I didn't replace was the cases.
I put in bullit clutch to take care of the metal and added a FST tech oil cooler, works even better now. I have drag raced it a two event's beating piped banshee's, Raptors, DS-650s. It works but it's costly.
I now have 21 hours on it, and I would sell it even though I'd hate to cause I have so much into it.
My modded 416ex has every sproket combo for it.
My stock Predator with stock gearing will out run it if your running over 300 feet with 15-36 gearing on the 416.
Under 300 feet you gotta be spot on to beat it and then it's only by inches with the 15-36 gearing.
You have a better chance on gravel then ashpalt, the ex will loop out while the predator won't it just hooks and goes forward.
Under 300 feet with 14-39 gearing and lowered (to prevent flipping over) on the 416 and stock gearing on the stock Predator. THE 416 WOULD WIN, BUT don't run over 300ft and you can't jump it more than 2inches cause it's going to break somthing.
On the track the Predator is faster. The Ex's power is strong and not as easliy controlable without alot of suspension work.
Remember I'm talking about a stock Predator!!! Airbox mods and or exhaust give it much better low and mid.
I'm a Honda guy and just bought my TLD Predator so I would have a new bike, thinking I would trade it in on the next new Honda. Well, the next new Honda is going to have to be very impressive before I give the Pred up.
I still can't believe I OWN AND LIKE A POLARIS

Uhm, ive ridden a 440 with everything cept porting and it got torn up by a bone stock raptor after 60ft. Up to that they were even but after that it just pulled away through every gear. Dont say it was bad driving because after your already going, unless you hit redline or shift bad its all motor.

If you go with a 416. You only bore it 40 to 60 over and that leaves you with a few more rebuilds. 440 you don't have a rebuild because after you bore the cylender to accept the sleeve there is nothing left. I just got a 416 done for 1200. Thats wiesco piston, Hot cam 2, 5 angle valve job, new rod , and valves along with full port and polishing. I've rode 440s, can't say that i would take one over my 416 in my opinion. Your best bet is to call an engine builder and see what they say.

man I am going to do the next thing within the next couple of weeks. I have been doing research on the topic for months now and i have come to conclusion to go with JE 416 piston 10.5-1 compression on pump gas. With that piston I'm going with the Sparks Racing DROP IN cam. With this cam you can keep valve springs and everything else stock. Piston is between 189-199 and cam is 159. Go to his website for more details. They also have an AGRESSIVE RACEING DROP IN CAM but its like 350. I'm going with the cheaper one. If you plan on running racing gas go with a higher compression piston. If you go with the 440 kit you will have to resleeve and probaly have to purchase a heavy duty connecting ROD. The rod will run you about 250 and the resleeving about 100. So a 440 kit is around 400 bucks more to do it right and to me its not worth it. I'm going with the 416.
