RAPTORYFM660r- i know what you mean, i can ride my XR250 faster in the woods than my brothers CR250, the power hit is way too hard to be suited for woods riding, and the suspension is harsh enough to give you hemroids!
I was actually faster on my 250 than on his 500.

Kinda like having too much money, girl being too pretty, and drinking too much whiskey (Well, guess I have found that one!)
Sorry guys.... just couldn't resist!! As whacky as this post has become.... it's time for a little humor

Dunecoon...
Do you think the older Fourtrax frame or a newer 400ex from would be better? Exactly how much strenghening do I have to do to either one of these frames? I prefer to use a 400EX.
Overall do you like the CR500 motor? Did you do any mods to the motor? Would you consider a 250R motor over the CR500.
Thanks...

ghawkman, i aggree with many of the other guys leaving messages, get a newer motor, becuase the vibration is going to be a problem, if not for the bike, surley for you. i own several 500's a quad, and a bike, and my knuckles and wrists hurt after a long days ride, and i am a big guy and very tolerant of pain.
i would try to get a early to mid 90's motor, don't worry about having 'the most powerfull' motor, you will have plenty of power to go around, whoever tell's you that you need the most powerfull 500, obviously has'nt even rode a 500! what you'll need alot of is nerves!!! please keep me, and everyone else updated, very interested in your project. you can email me at fpk@buckeyeweb.com -thanks - powerman500
