lt250r motor in trx250r frame
I think it would be worth a try. The LT250R motor was always very good, (stronger than the 250r motor stock), the chassis was always the downfall of the Quadracer. There is not nearly the hop up potential as the 250R motor, but having the power valve (87-92) and lots of guy's who can port them real well, you can take one to 40HP with fairly short money. The problem might be getting a pipe to fit, but if you own a mig welder or know a good welding shop in the area you shouldn't have that hard a time.

03foreman, I don't mean to sound like an a$$hole, but what have you been smokn'? Again, this is not meant to be rude so please don't take it that way. The lt250 has never and will never be as good as the honda 250r. It never made as much power, and it has always been riddled with problems. At least you are right that it doesn't have the hop up potential of the Honda, but to say that it is worth a try to fit it in the Honda frame (IMO) would be a huge mistake. You can find 250r engines for around $600 and they would probably be in pretty good shape. It is Highly doubtfull that you could find an lt250 engine, have the frame fitted for the Zuki power plant, and still have enough left over for a custom pipe for under $600. Heck, Even if I could do it for FREE I would still hold out until I had the money to do it right. I hope this is helpful. You may choose to disregaurd if you like.

I agree BB, ive never seen an LT motor run worth a damned, and that is even the modded engines. A popular setup back in the day for TT racing was to use the HONDA motor in the LT chassis because the LT chassis was a little lighter. But never put a zuki in a honda, boy!

ebay..... watch and wait.....one will eventually show up.....I hate to sound mean, but trust, the LT's sucked. That's why you can get one in good shape for around $1800. The Hondas are hard to come by to even get to see one in some parts of the country and finding one for $1800 would be nearly inconcievable. If you already have a rolling chassis then I would just wait for a motor to pop up on ebay, it may take a month, but it will happen. If you don't already have the chassis, I'd look for an '85 or '86 ATC 250r and use it as a base. You would be amazed at how much stuff from the ATC works on the TRX (swingarm, axle, etc.) and the motor's are identical to the '86 TRX motors.
