I have been looking through some atv mags and web sites. What is the deal with the 400 EX I understand it is an awsome machine but enough already. Almost every page there is something for the 400. What about us 300 riders? The test I read in ATV SPORT magazine rated the 300 as being better than the Mojave. They still called it the little 300! I guess real riders buy a 400, but not me!

I think its the simple fact that the 250X/300Ex has been out for like 13 or 14 years now and the 400EX is new. Plus you cant really call the 300EX "high" performance like the 400 according to most. However, I have seen many a high performance 300Ex that would give the 400 a run for its money, but stock, the 400 wins hands down.
I too am a 300Ex rider, and wish that I had half the products available to me that the 400's do.

I just want blue plastic for my 300EX. I don't think that is alot to ask for do you? But no, I can have red or white. But if I had a 400EX I could have blue, yellow, green, purple, red, or white. I hear ya on the aftermarket parts that are available for both bikes, it does kinda seem like everyone has forgotten about the 300EX.

I have blue plastic for my 300EX.

Maier makes 300EX plastic in all the same colors for the 250r or 400EX. Blue, red, white, orange, yellow, purple, light blue, black, etc.

You can order it from nac's or Sunshine ATV or about anywhere else too. Just not honda dealers or Dennis Kirk. Oh, and its not to hard to put the 400Ex plastic on the 300 either, just a couple bracktes, thats the new trend around here, 400ex plastic on the 300.

I get torqued too when all's that i hear about is the 400EX.
Then I just go too the track and ride circles around them. It's called being a better rider, and knowning your machine.
Yes it is possible, and Yes it can be done......

I think the reason you hear so much about the 400ex and see so many aftermarket parts for the this model is because it is new, and aftermarket part manufacturers see growth and profit potential.

Only a foolish business would pass up this opportunity and continue to spend time and capital developing only parts for outdated machines.

I understand that there are large numbers of 300ex machines (as well as other models)and I'm not suggesting that there is no market for parts for these machines, because there is.

The point I want to make here is that to us, this is a hobby. For the manufacturers, it is a business where money is made and lost.

A good parallel would be the market for computers and computer parts. How many companies sell and support the 8086?

Now would someone please explain why given the large growth in the atv market over the last few years, we see only a mildly interesting offering from Honda and nothing from Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki?

Makes you wonder why they are missing all this opportunity.

Bring me the new Cannondale or a watercooled 650ex.

ok......
1. the 400ex is a WAY better quad than the 300ex.

2. My stock 400ex beats a 360cc (300ex) DG pipe, unlimited rev limiter, EVERYTHING!!!

3. My friend just bought a new 300ex, and it is SOOOO slow.

4. buy a 400ex

1. Bring your 400 here and I will show you some trails you wont be able to keep up on
2. Bring a warrior too please
3. Did anyone talk crap about the 400EX?

You come on here dissing the 300 when no one has said the 400 sucks. We just said that we would like to see some more aftermarket parts available for the 300. The 300 by no means sucks, for the trails I mostly ride in, you would have a hard time pushing your 400 around them while I am riding my 300. Its just not practical for TIGHT trails made mainly for dirtbikes. I would like to have one, but I dont so back off (p.s. wait till the cannondale is out.)

Wow! I guess I hit a nerve huh? I did NOT say the 400 is a bad machine. I was just making an observation that in every issue of every magazine there is too much about the 400. There are other machines out there! There is nothing wrong with a Polaris Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki or any other! They are all great machines in their own way! After riding a friends Polaris 500 Scrambler I sort of wish I bought one! Being 6 feet tall any Polaris feels less cramped and there is no shortage of power at all! But I bought a Honda because they are very reliable and I had a 94 300 EX and really liked it! So I figured If it worked before it will work again and I do not regret it!
So my opinion is THERE ARE NO BAD MACHINES! Maybe just Artic Cat Never rode one do not know for sure.
