The only way the 16 tooth front sprocket will fit is too remove or grind on the guard. Been there...done that! The 16 tooth sprocket that I bought is a P.B.I. "pro series". With a precision fit, it is much better than others I have worked with. I bought mine at a local cycle shop for $26, so someone could probably get it cheaper thru mail order. Hope this helps!
