Default Switching from 4X4 to 4X2......

I am considering buying a kit to be able to take my 4X4 Rancher in and out of 4 wheel drive. Anyone got any information on either the kit from Hilifter or the Warn unit? If you have either, let me know what you think.

I installed the Warn unit on my Rancher about 3 months ago(x-mas present). It will definietly make a difference in the handling of your Rancher. I had been contemplating installing one of these units for a while, the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. I give the unlocker kit a high reccomendation and a must do mod. It adds trememdously to the rideability of the Rancher making it much easier to navigate tight wooded trails and trails in general. I went with the Warn unit because the highlifter unit about 150 dollars more. Plus Warn has made a name for itself in the offroad products world so I figured the quality of this product should be excellent.

I'm not familiar with the highlifter unit but I have installed a few of the Warn units and they work as advertised. In my opinion the cable actuation and nylon strap that holds the transfer case to the frame is kind of cheesy tho.

I installed the WARN unit on my bike and I love it. Easy to install, works great and feels solid. I like the fact that if the cable breaks for some reason the unit slips into 4wd not 2wd.

Thanks for the info. I been checking some other forums and looks like the Warn unit is a little more common.

Next question. Where to buy? Best price?

I bought mine from my dealer for $313 and some change. But I get a 10% discount on all accessories for buying my ATV there. It's a great dealer. Anyways, I think the unit is priced at $298, so that plus sales tax. At least at the dealer I deal with, I'm sure some like to mark things up. You may be better off if you can just order direct from Warn, not sure if you can or not, there are also websites that have it listed.

I have sold alot of the warn kits and have had no trouble. Street price is around $250.00 you should beable to talk any dealer down to that price.
