Wonder why Honda didn't put the Rancher front end on the Rubicon

I am very much interested in this new atv. The only thing that worries me is the tranny. From my experience working for the last 35yrs in the automotive, heavy truck and industrial truck field I have found that the style of trans that they are using will fail with the very smallest amount of dirt. In theory it is a great idea but when they say that the trans is sealed it better be sealed tighter than a nat's a**.It will not take but a speck of dirt to stop the trans. from working.I am also curious about why everyone is so worked up about the new torque sensing front diff.? Suzuki used it starting in 1998 on the 500 quadrunner and if you are an oldtimer on this web site you will remember the posts by people such as Gordon Banks
saying how it was nothing but limited slip.Well I own one of those 1998 500 quadrunners and I can tell you that the only thing that stops it is ground clearence and the only other quad that will go where it goes is a four wheel polaris. This is going to be fun to watch when the rubicon gets out in the field, will the torque sensing front diff be a torque sensing diff. because it is a "HONDA" and not a suzuki?

Hey, Bob is right, keep it up! The more you type on these darn keyboards, the more you get used to them. It'll come much easier with more practice. --Just wait till you start writing 20 page research documents. What a pain!!! Well, time to get out riding! Have a good weekend!

Went down and read up a little on the new Rubicon trans. There isnt a whole lot available about it yet but I did find out thru checking that is supposed to to use a triple filtering system. They couldnt tell me if it was 3 separate filters or if it was some type of single 3 stage filter system. That should be adequate to catch anything though. Either way, I agree about the danger of contamination. Hopefully it will be as dependable as there other models. It will be interesting but if the system works as planned it should be sweet.

"AP" is simply a brand name. It is a purchased technology from some other company. You are correct, RancherES, in that the AP is torque sensing. Now, the new Rubicon may also have a torque sensing front diff, however, that does not mean it uses the "AP" unit.
LovinHonda-- try the backspace key. Although I don't expect perfect grammer and college level sentance structure from everyone here, it would make your posts much more readable if you did a quick proof read before hitting that 'submit' button. No offense, but most of us should take heed on this one.

Man what is your guys problem nobody was putting down your bike or even the rubicon are you all that insecure about Honda...see if you can grasp this I did a search on Metacrawler for Rubicon to see if there was any more info than what atvconnection was reporting I noticed that there were different reports on what kind of front end would be on it, I wasn't making up any lies or storys just repeating what I had read from other sites...all I was wondering if they were going to put the foreman or the rancher front differential on the Rubicon, it is simple as that, man why do you guys blow things out of proportion it was just a simple question...I was really wondering why Honda would put the foreman front end on if the Rancher front end was suppose to be so good, come on guys slack up a little bit.

No kidding, listen to Cartman! Were you dropped on your head when you were a kid? I mean you don't listen to what anyone has to say, you hear what you want to hear and then draw your conclusions from there. Cartman and I know what kind of front diff we have in our ranchers, we don't need someone to tell us that thank you.
