hi- im in the market for a used 400 foreman and I was wondering what are the proformance specs of them?

Has honda made any changes to the 400s since 95 because that is most likely the only year I can afford

whats the top speed?
how much can they pull?

are there any problems accociated with them?

how do they compare to the bayou 400, arctic cat 454, kodiak 400 (10 speed), wolverine, etc (did i miss any???)

Honda has made only a few changes since 95, the only noticable is the speedometer was added. They are bulletproof and I know this cause my dad has a 95 model with prabably 12-15k miles on it, no speedometer for the 95 models. They are no speedster thew will top out around 50, I have never raced it against other bikes. It is in the same league as my buddies 454 AC more than likely as far as speed goes, it could use another gear. The 400 can pull a lot bigger load than the 850lbs honda says it can tow. Worse thing is they have limited wheel travel. Good luck with you decision.

 

well two summers ago i worked on a ranch and i rode a foreman(newer model with speedo) for like 1 1/2 months. i liked it pretty good. i fully topped it out at 48 mph on a big stretch of road. i weighed prob 235 lbs. i climbed over big boulders while on steep hills and it tore it up. i would recommend the foreman for any type of work like that. and yes it pulls a hell of a lot.

 

My cousin has a 1997 Honda 400 and he has done unbelievable stuff with it. Pulling big logs out of the woods, trailer full of wood, anything you can imagine. It is a low machine with little ground clearance but is very very stable. He can go just as many areas as a 350 or 450. It is a very good machine, part of the reason I bought my 450. I was at an RV show on the weekend and the RCMP had their police vehicles there and the Police ATV was a 400. Looked kinda cool with the siren and red and blue lights on the rack...Boy wouldn't that be fun to have at a rally....HOOYAH! Have fun with your 400.
