Recon ES Problem

Recon ES Problem
Have a Recon ES that is a year old. Never had any problems with it before. Daughter was out riding it when it stalled while she was stopped. Towed it home and have found the following.
1) it runs fine with the choke.
2) can get it to idle when the choke is off
3) it dies as soon as I give it ANY gas with the choke off.
I have adjusted the jetting, checked the Idle, Cleaned the airfilter (even tried with the filter removed).
Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

Recon ES Problem
I have a 02 recon and it does the same thing every now and then. One day I had to ride it out of the woods with the choke on thats the only way to keep it running and it would idle great, but when you give it gas it would stall. The last time it happened I adjusted the air screw until I could rev it up in neutral without it stalling. The first time it happened I just took it home and the next day It ran fine so I really never found out for sure what causes the problem.

Recon ES Problem
bob, your 1,2,3 description is foolproof evidence that it is running lean. Try replacing your gas, if it is oxygenated fuel it can go flat real fast, especially in warm humid weather. Make sure your carb is fully seated in the intake boot, and that the boot isn't tore, as air leaking between the carb and cylinder will cause lean running, backfiring, etc. If your carb has an air cut valve, (diaphram mounted on the side) make sure the vacuum line that runs it is intact and the plastic spigot on the valve isn't broke. Maybe replace your spark plug, check gap, if you've been running with the choke on it wouldn't be a surprise to see it fouled. Beyond that, I still think your carb is clogged or some other problem with it. Be sure to double check your slide needle\main jet, and check to make sure the hose that vents the float bowl on the side of carb isn't pinched somewhere, you should be able to blow through it.
