I just purchased a new Rancher ES . While out riding the trails last week, a friend I was riding ahead of me and got stuck in a creek. He was trying to back up when I came upon him. I quicky worked to get my new Rancher in reverse... I knew right then.. I didnt like this set-up. That evening I took the "release cable" adjusting nut and ran it all the way in, pulled the cable out of it's actuating lever and made a clip to go on the cable portion of the cable. Then I re-inserted it into it's holder. This bypassed the lock out function for reverse. Now I can hit the shift down button and get into reverse with ease.

If anyone else does modifications to their Rancher please share it with us.

Thanks, Brian in NC

To tell the truth you should have waited till your warranty ran out so if you uhave problems the warranty will still cover it, you never know what your dealer might pull out of his butt.

It shouldn't cause a shortcoming in the warranty coverage. If I have a problem, I can just remove the clip from the cable before taking it in for service..

yea.. first day out and I took it thru some mud... but guess what.. it washed off! yayayaay.. and you KNOW I washed it all off before bringing it back home! (car wash wands are great for that)
