Default 400ex into a monster for 600$?? possible?

RAPTORAZ
Ross 87mm forged piston with rings $125.00
Stage II Hot Cam $130.00
Bore cylinder and fit rings $40.00
Factory Honda gaskets $25.00
Grind welds out of header with dremel Free
Put in 170 main, 42 pilot and move needle up one slot $10.00

Mine's been perfectly reliable since I've done these mods.



WHERES THESE PRICES FROM???????

Piston: Directly from Ross Racing
Stage II Hot Cam: From Global Moto
Cylinder bore and ring fit: Shortblock Charlie's
Honda gaskets: Apache Honda/Yamaha
Grind welds: Did myself
Jetting: jets from Western Honda & installed myself

to get your engine done to a 440 its almost 1 grand canadian. i asked about it. thats with the price of a new 440 kit, and the installation and machining at a trained professional shop. 416 is a good choice and a 440 needs alot of work done unless your gonna get full time MX racin only with the bike i wouldnt go with a 440 because they have aproblem blowing head gaskets and they need alot of service too keep them running strong and new.

A 440 is right around $500 and about $170 for labour CDN, I ordered one this morning for a guy. It is a wiseco, 11:1 kit, you can even get oversize (.5 mm, .030" I think)

I see 11:1 is a pretty popular compression ratio. Can I still run pump gas with this piston? It sounds a touch high for pump gas but I am basing this off of what I know from cars. What is the stock ratio?

With a new cam, exhaust, and a new piston/416 kit, would the machine be reliable and be able to hang with a stock DS?

Mine runs just fine on pump gas. And I haven't lost to any stock DS's, Raptor's, or Banshee's yet.

Well guys, thanks for all the replies. It's appreciated.

I was looking for a quad with a huge set of *****, was thinking maybe going with an EX and do all the internal mods.

Instead, bought mahself a fire-breathing(literally) beast.

Bought a 2000 DS with loads of goodies to keep me happy for a while. No EX will come close im afraid, only in the trails, if your lucky.
