Rancher Choke
#1
I usually use the primer instead of the choke to start my bike. It's stored in a heated garage so it usually just cranks up with no choke or primer. This weekend it didn't start right away. So i choked it. Now it still appears to run perfectly, but the idle seems faster than normal. Do you think my choke stuck open a little? If so, how do i fix this. Thanks in advance for the help guys. One more thing. All the other bikes (all hondas) that i owned in the past had the slide choke. Never had trouble with those. Seems like just about everyone is having trouble with this newly designed choke from Honda.

i doubt that it would be stuck unless you ride in muddy conditions alot. mud could be in the cable and causeing it to stick. buy some dry lube for brake lines from a dealer and that should free you up.

There is nothing new about the choke on the Rancher, but it does seem to collect moisture easily. There is an improved cable from Honda (it has a gator spring around the rubber boot on the top of the cable). There are previous posts on this issue, so do a search and you can find good descriptions of how to disassemble.
