Rancher ES stuck in reverse
#1
Hi all
My '00 Rancher ES has never given me any problems until the other day.
I had just used it to pull down a tree that had hung up when I cut it down. I drove back up to the garage to get the chainsaw and left it running in neutral while I got the saw. Put it in reverse to back out and it would not shift out of reverse. I played with alll the connections, disconnected and reconnected the battery, checked the clutch adjustment but nothing worked. I then got out the manual shift lever but could not get it to shift manually either.
The electric shifter makes its usual clicking sound when I hit the buuton and the shaft where the manual lever goes moves but she will not budge out of reverse.
Ani Ideas?

If anybody cares...
I brought my rig in and the verdict is, apparently there was a recall on these '00 Rancher ES for a defective "gearshift plate". The Canadien dealer I bought it from never got the word to me.
I'm good to go now.
