Default Rancher ES stuck in reverse

Hi all

My '00 Rancher ES has never given me any problems until the other day.

I had just used it to pull down a tree that had hung up when I cut it down. I drove back up to the garage to get the chainsaw and left it running in neutral while I got the saw. Put it in reverse to back out and it would not shift out of reverse. I played with alll the connections, disconnected and reconnected the battery, checked the clutch adjustment but nothing worked. I then got out the manual shift lever but could not get it to shift manually either.

The electric shifter makes its usual clicking sound when I hit the buuton and the shaft where the manual lever goes moves but she will not budge out of reverse.

Ani Ideas?

Your next step is to check the tran linkeage underneath the front engine cover.

If anybody cares...

I brought my rig in and the verdict is, apparently there was a recall on these '00 Rancher ES for a defective "gearshift plate". The Canadien dealer I bought it from never got the word to me.

I'm good to go now.

Ya I care, nice to get feedback. The recall is for a part of the tran linkeage, which is found underneath the front engine cover.
