The 400EX's are selling for a little less now. I read awhile ago that Honda wanted to clear out some warehouses before they release the new sport quad. I'm not sure that this is true.

Hey Da Beech man,
I will race any 250R you have or can bring to the track. If you can beat me on the TT track in Lodi California. I will not only pay your entry fees but your gas to get there and the gas for your Long ride home wondering,,, What Happened!!

All I would want when I win is for you to post the Result (Honda smoked by Suzuki) ,,, Oh and I will even give you the trophy after I win, I already have a Garage full!!
I race a 1988 trinity built TT LT250R that I would be glad to raceyou on.
(Anyone can say they are fast or there bike is fast. Bring it to the track ,, then we will talk.)
Or better Yet come on up and join us in Washington at the West Coast Nationals in May, And see for your self Honda's are Not The fastest best handling bike out there.

Not a rip but Suzuki copied a lot of the 400ex except they didn't learn the swing arm lesson. They took a motor they already had and an ancient swingarm they already had and used Honda's frame, shocks( though slightly different) and some other specs and mounted vertically stacked head lights in yellow raptor plastic. I don't see how revolutionary that was. Although I don't like some of the raptors design ideas at least Yamaha came up with their own quad. The predator, kfx700 and the Dales if they survive are breaking way more ground than suzuki did on the Z.

I would like to see a new Honda as well and sooner or later I don't think they'll have a choice but as long as they are at the fore front of the sales category which is what they are in business for I don't think they are going to be manning any life boats.

I love my 400ex but I'm not brand loyal and if a manufacturer makes close to what I'm looking for I'll buy it regardless of the name on the tank.

As Ive written before: The Z400 is the illegitimate offspring of the Raptor and the 400EX.

honda could keep the same line up for another year and still do ok. the fact remains that i could go beat my dads old racher with a hammer and it would still run. as long as honda continues to make a reliable machien that will hold up to the abuse of any of us, they will sell machiens. the 400 EX even has a place, after all its what brought about the z. there is no way a company as large as honda can drown.

I was "THE" honda man at one time, It started with a ATC 90 back in the 70's.

My back is not what it used to be, Crappy rides for the most part. After looking around for a new quad, after being out of it for the last 8 years... " Ride " means everything to me and honda has nothing to offer accept for the Rincon... but, After one of my new riding buddies picked one up and had to send the bike back... not to the dealer but to honda! His second bike, to replace the first is not impressing he or I any... I think the first was a total lemon, I wonder if the second one is the same... It may be the only two in the world to do this but, It is enough to keep me away... As far as being bulletproof, Every honda that I have owned has far outlived my expectations. I would like to see some new suspentions... And tranny options.

What is some of you all's problem with the swing-arm on the Z400, sure the chain adjustment may not be all that great, but it does look to be very sturdy, something even Honda didn't do to well on the 400EX. It's funny how you all nit pick at everything wrong with every other sport quad against the 400EX yet fail to say anything really wrong with the 400EX itself. I can tell you one thing, I was just at a huge riding spot over here in Florida last week and I saw WAY more Z400's than 400EX's, whether that tells you anything or not I don't know, even most racers are switching to Z's now. One thing I have learned though is that it is impossible to convince Honda loyalists that other manufacturers are worth looking at, no matter what the facts are, because Honda loyalists are bound to make up their own facts, or if they hear of a few problems with another quad, they blow it way out of proportion, or refuse to include how the certain part was broken in the first place. Such as frames on Z400's, yes quite a few have cracked, and that was mostly due to motocross racing or other hard racing. And even most 400EX chassis that get used for racing have to be gusseted also. While we are at the frames, my 300EX's frame has cracked in two places, I guess it's unreliable to, but wait, its a Honda, that can't be right. Some loyalists are still mentioning the axle problems on the Z, that was taken care of a while ago, so should not even be mentioned anymore.

Other ATV companys are just as reliable as Honda. The only reason Honda people always talk about reliability is because they have nothing else to talk about because they are behind in everything.
