Default 400EX TURBO ATV

This has nothing to do with ATV's, but here is a link to another project I did. www.nightlifelimobus.com

We took a 40ft deisel pusher RV and rebuilt it from ground up, into a custom limo bus.

I love bad *** toys and had to share this one with everyone, sorry if i affended anyone because of it!

Turbo charged jet skiis, snow mobils? MAYBE!

Thanks again!

I'm drooling! We just built a 450 Foreman 4x4 with our Link-X front suspension. You'll see this in the magazines in 2-3 months.

We plan on doing a sport ATV and have been thinking of buying the new 700. A turbo 400ex would be even better.

Is there a turbo 'kit' for this?

Cheers,
Todd

Wow, thats some nice tuning.

Good luck trying to keep those front wheels on the ground and your grab bar off the ground.

its required that you run an intercooler...a turbo works similar to an after burner, running off the unused combustable air in your exhaust, and re-routing it back into the combustion chamber....if you didnt have an intercooler the exhaust that would normally pass through the intercooler would be wayyyyyyyy too hot.

I am no expert on this subject while it is better when turbocharged to
have an intercooler because the forced air is cooled and the air is more
dense thus higher horsepower I don't think it required.

The early turbocharged cars such as the 80-81 Trans AM had no intercooler
nor did and I can't remember the year off hand one of Honda's mid to late
eighties street bikes came from the factory turbocharged and had no intercooler.

I remember one of the problems of early turbochargers was the bearing would cook because the user would shut down the engine while not letting the turbocharger to spool down. The oil remaining around the bearing would coke. Years ago I was told to let the engine idle for a minute or two so the problem wouldn't occur. Some of the early turbo motors also required straight 30 weight oil because of the mentioned problem.

Actually, you do not re-route the exhaust back into the combustion chamber, you harness the exhaust energy with an exhaust housing that is mated to an air compressor via a common shaft. A by-product of compressing air is heat, therefore the intercooler is used to remove some of the heat that was created by compressing the air. The cooler the air the denser it is, the more air you cram into the cylinder, equals even more HP. Although an intercooler is not necessary, you can get into a situation where you can negate the effects of the boost pressure due to the heat you create. Pretty cool stuff!!!
