Default Help with RIncon !!!!!

They all are doing it. It's the muffler. It will fill with mud and water an starts choking it down. We put a snorkle on one the past weekend an it was a big help. No more missing, bogging down, or stalling out.

i think if you get water in the muffler on anything it will cause those problems. typically, you just stay on the gas a bit more to keep the air flowing through and from the water backing it up.

even when revving, it seems to skip out. It starts to burble and sometimes dies and other times I made it through. Water was about 2 inches below the front rack.

I have not done anything to prevent water from getting in anywhere. I did however get a K & N filter and an after market exhaust. I crossed a long puddle a month ago that was just below the "hood scoop" under the rack, The motor was burbling the whole way through but made it. Half way I gassed it as everyone was pulling away from me and it changed nothing. At first I thought I was pushing too much weight in water, and had lost some low end with the exhaust and filter, but then I remembered that the guy in front of me was riding a Yamaha Beartracker 250. I don't think I lost that much power to not keep up with him in the water!?!

I'm not saying the Rincon has a bad designed muffler. It's great for what it is used for. It's quite and not hard to ride behind. It has a 1 1/2 in. inlet and a 1 in. outlet. But cut it open lots of goodies. It don't take much to slow the exhaust flow down. I know it sounds funny ( How does water get in when you are wide open ) It Will. Let off the gas a little it will pull it in. This problem started around 100 miles. The dealer had no ideal. They worked on it with no clues. They run water everywhere an it ran great. We brought it home run it in a big ole hole an the same thing spit-n-sputer not runnin to good. This thing ran great until it got deep. Then it took alot to pull those 27 589's. Just like it had a gov. holding it back. Took it home cut the muffler open an it was close to 80% clogged with baked mud which looked like concrete. We cut some of the baffles and screens out. Yep it had screen in it. We put a pipe on it 2 ft above the rear rack. We took it back to the ole mud hole an it was pretty BAD. It never once tried to die or spit-n-sputer with water at times over the racks. The only Rincon with a shower on the back. We got to work on that. That Pickett mud in Tenn. is tough !!!!!!!!!

I seen a rinny die in a mud hole before, just thought it was because it only had like 20 miles on it though. I then went right through the hole it was in on my rubi and it never cut out. Rincons do have a lower air snorkle than the rubicon does, its at the front of the seat on the rinny.
