Help with RIncon !!!!!
#1
The Rincon seems to have a problem in water ,when I first hit a big hole that we normally just do a water wheelie with my Rubicon, but the Rincon starts to miss like it is flooding and sometimes dies completely." we have 3 Rincon's in our group and they all do this!!
I figured it could be steam from when we first dive into the hole with a hot engine because with further testing if we cool the engine first before going in to deep it does not miss at all.
We do have the vents up from the carb!
Any thoughts on this or with any experience with this problem please help because I hate to have to worry every time I cross a water hole!!!!!
I love the bike.
Thanks
Mark

If the engine's not drinking water, which should be evident from what's in your airbox, and water isn't coming in the carb vents, you might consider electrical? Check connectors for water or corrosion and seal with a bit of dielectric grease. Are the machines flat when this happens or the front wheels up in the air?

I do not think it is a electrical problem " never know though " , I put dielectric grease on all electrical connections !
I have the carb vents up , and the air boxes are dry.
Mine did as I started to lift it , but my Father 's did it when flat . " Once the engines were cold we could water weelie with the machines up with no problems."
Dzzy: What is your opinion on the Vapor problem that I am thinking it could be ?
Thanks for your HELP .

Got to admit I'm stumped, Mark. As far as your vapor theory, stranger things have happened. The steam could be going places that water can't. Also when the thing is cold, it can handle much more gas and stay running than when it's cold. My point is if it's a "drinking raw gas" problem, it will be much more evident when fully heat soaked. See if you can recreate while the machine is sitting idling while hot, spray it with a garden hose to make steam. Have a spare plug and check the spark when it is in the act of missing. Try to keep your post active as there is a lot of sharp folk on this forum and maybe somebody has fixed it already. Take a good close look at the connectors to the ECM (the big electronic brain), underneath the rear rack\fender (kind of hard to get to), wiggle the connectors to it, unlock and pull them off and make sure the o-ring around the inside of the connector is intact and the connectors are pushed in completely and locked, use a small amount of dielectric inside, and goop it good around the back of the connector. I've seen this very connector cause some mysterious problems on a couple Rubicons. How deep and long is the water hole that's causing this? How long does it continue to miss when it acts up?

Thanks , I will try that !
It is preety deep when it starts to miss and it will clear up.The water is no where near the air intake.
I can not duplicate the problem in any other circumstance, only when we water quick with a hot engine.
We will be making a exhaust extension " to stop water from entering the engine if it does stall "and going to try it some more.
thanks again,
Mark

so how deep is the water hole how far up the machine is it this may help it finding out where the problem lies and are you getting water in the snorkel to the air box (the one that is by the sparkplug) I also hope that you don't expect Honda to pay for this kind of problem.
