Default Rancher choke

I had a similar experience with my 2001 Rancher where my choke grew stiff until it stopped working altogether. My problem was with the collar on the carb (where the choke cable goes into the carb) it let moister in. Because of this, a small amount of water entered in and around the collar restricting the movement of the entire choke system from within the carb. If you want to fix it yourself perform the follwing six steps:

a) remove old choke cable
b) get another choke cable
c) lube the new choke cable
d) lube the inside of the collar at the carb (where the choke cable enters the carb)
e) install new choke cable
f) work the choke back and forth to make sure the lube covers all surfaces inside the cable and in the choke collar at the carb.

Good Luck!
