I have a 300ex and I don't know a lot about the gearing on a 300ex, but I would like to know what others has tried and what works the best?

The stock gearing is 14/38 ,and if you haven't noticed, its a little to low.Try a 15 counter shaft (front) sprocket if you want higher gearing. You will lose a little take off but not a lot.The sprocket will cost about $15.00 and should give you a noticible increase on top end.

actually I'm pretty sure thats a 13 tooth front sprocket standard. you may want to check a shop manual or something first. just dont want someone spending 15 bucks uselessley

Well to fill you all in the stock countershaft sprocket is 13 tooth, so if you put a 14 tooth front on you will get a higher top speed and wont lose any on low end.

you dont really have to go smaller, but if you want more top end you could go down a couple teeth in the rear. you cant fit any bigger front sprocket on.
