Default trail drag?

my son and I went mudding on our property and left some pretty nasty ruts. Has anyone made a road drag out of a heavy log? I was thinking about cutting a heavy piece of Maple and putting eye bolts on each end and dragging it over the still soft trails to get rid of the ruts. What do you think?

You could try that or you could wait till the ruts dry up and fill them with sand or dirt. Just my 2 cents.

Not in my experience. The log is just too light.

Stop by your local metal scrap yard and look for a section of I beam, railroad track or similar item. I personally have a drag made from a section of heavy metal drain grate that I chain cement blocks to the top of. I can alter the number of blocks I use or eliminate them all together depending on how much weight I need to do the job.

Add more water and make a mudding pit.

You could try a harrow rake like people use for ball fields.

A piece of chain link fence works real well for a drag. Tie cement blocks on as needed for weight. The drag I have used for years on our garden is about 4' wide and 6' long. two rows of cement blocks, one right at the front and the second row about two feet back seems to be about right. I pushed a piece of half inch rebar thru the first row on the drag to hook the chain too. This keep it from cupping and digging a ditch instead of leveling the ground.

I ended up trying the log, it really didn't work well. I did build a drag using 2" angle iron and 2" square tubing and put the same log on top, now I'm cooking with gas.. Works slick, thanks for all your help.
