25-06 with the bull barrel is a heck of a gun..

My sks with synthetic stock and scope has done really well. be sure you do buy the proper bullets made by winchester for deer hunting, (walmart) they expand great and knock down every bit as well as a 30-30 and for a play/hunting gun for under 200 bucks how can you go wrong!!!!! and now for the .243,, speaking of a 243.... a great coyote gun also, in my opinion. for those that have ever had one... have any of you ever tried the excellerator bullets??? world of differance!!!! They do not work in semi auto matic guns, only bolt action

As far as taking down elk a 400 yards and dropping them with a .243? all i can say to that is "you da man" "YOU DA MAN"

Winchester Mod 70 Featherweight in 270, with 1.5-4x Bushnell ScopeChief. I like the lighter 120 gr rounds over the 150 gr for deer.

I'm sure you all will laugh but in ohio you have to use a shotgun, pistol, or muzzloader so my favorite deer guns are a smith 629 classic 44mag or a custom made 44 cal percussion muzzloader long-gun cause "muzzleloader's have lead *****!" traditional only!

Chopped up your post but don't forget you also have the option of "mini-*****".

I won't laugh at a 44 mag. I had the Rugar Super Blackhalk with the 10 1/4" barrel. I had no problym taking a deer at 50 yards (open sights, max handload)
