I have an etrex legend. I bought a etrex bar mount. One part of the mount is mounted on the bars. The second part replaces the stock battery cover. Then you just slip the GPS unit into the part on the bars.

try the RAM mount, its more adjustable than the OEM Garmin mounts..I was thinking of one myself....either that or I'm going to make one:

RAM

the link is not to RAM's site, to a place that is cheaper priced....

I got to agree with elkbow. I have a ram mount on mine. See my pictures. It works great.

I have an Etrex Vista. For the last two years I've used the Garmin handlebar mount.....

works perfectly,

stays low to the handlebar - "out of the way",

only cost a few bucks !

I bought the garmin mount for my vista. I found it at a local store so it was convenient. It seems like it will hold up, but it lacks the adjustments that a RAM has.

thanks for the replies. this forum has proven again to be a wealth of knowledge.

I think you made the correct decision.

The Garmin may not be adjustable, but it's stable, out of the way, not affected by being brushed against or bumped, and follows the old KISS principle.

The old KISS principle? I'm confused. What is the old KISS principle?

Mich- Now all you need is the power cord. If you don't already have one.

Found an adjustable cell phone bracket for my Magellean 2000, Walmart for $10 and made my own bracket to mount that, works well.

As for the KISS thing, just can't resist answering that Keep It Simple Stupid! I live by that one..............well try to
