thats cool. but id prefer shorter barrel lenght as well.
check these out:
the AK-47 of shotguns, the SAIGA 12 (other guages available). Box load the shells! Never seen that before for shotguns. from the factory they come in 5 shot capacity but ive heard of a 8 or 12 capacity somewhere. some have told me they are reliable but cant speak from first hand experience.
SAIGA

Its not on their site but i think these are the only people you can still get a "new" (i think in parts then the FFL assembles it for you) AK47. You can find allot of guns like these on some sites mentioned in other threads...
also, relatively new is the new tactical remmington shotguns with up to 8 round capacity(with 22" barrell) based on the 870 and 1100 models. i have a 1100 and would trust its dependability in any situation. never a jam, never a problem. i also like the mossberg persuader, 8rd....
remmington:

on another note i also like the S&W m&p15...
Better get these before they put the ban back in place in 2009...

oh yeahhh. i do like that clip! that had to be the SAIGA... i dont know of any other shotgun that shoots shells from a mag like that. if anyone does know, then say so!
with the exception of the first clip the other 2 were like 5 then 8 shots. if it comes with a 5 shot, then that 8 is somewhere for sale. maybe the first one is too but seems a bit cumbersome... interesting video and site though!

That last video clip is an American weapon. The AA-12. It's a select fire 12 ga.
There have been a few magazine fed shotguns over the years. Several drum fed models. Unfortunately many of these models succumbed to the "assault weapons" hysteria of the 90s and actually got thrown in with the same "destructive devices" BATF category as hand grenades and such. There have been other straight mag models as the aforementioned Saiga and the SPAS 15 among many others.
As for auto loading shotguns used for defensive purposes, the only ones I would trust my life to would be the Benelli models. Or the Franchi SPAS 12, SPAS 15.
While I love my Remington 11-87 and 1100 for hunting duty I wouldn't trust them for defensive purposes. Their gas systems are just too unreliable for such a duty. Add to that the slower cycle times of the Remington they stay in the gun cabinet for hunting duty and leave the defensive work to more capable cousins.
