Default Rack weight limit

Does anyone know the weight limit for the racks on a Recon? I'm wondering about hauling deer out of the woods. I know manufacturers always list them kind of low because I have seen guys put 200lb deer on a 300cc bike and it pulls just fine but I'm not sure what my 250 could handle.

I checked Honda's web site. Not listed there. It should be on the warning sticker under or near the rear rack.

I Googled it and one place says 33 pounds front and 66 pounds rear. I swear to God that's all. No wonder they won't list it on the website. I checked there too. It had better be a starving fawn to weigh 66 pounds or less. If you put something bigger on the racks, try to keep the weight 1/3 front and 2/3 rear. It may steer better if you lean ahead.

I'm sure mine could do better than 66 #'s. I've sat on the rear rack and it didn't bottom out so I know the suspension can hold the weight but I was wondering how much strain it would put on the motor once you get over 100. Do you think me plus a 175lb deer on the back would be too much for the motor to pull?

I've seen 6 people on a one-person quad and it held up to the weight, so yours should handle a deer okay. It will only be once in awhile, but in no way should you haul over the limit all the time. That's what the manufacturer thinks is safe, and it will handle right. If you overload any quad it affects the steering and brakes, ability to climb hills without tipping over, and causes excess wear and tear. Happy hunting.
