It's archery season here, but there was a little accident with my crossbow and I'm not going to be able to hunt with it this year since I won't get it back in time. I'm going to have to wait until gun season.

I've got 8 tags. 4 bucks and 4 does. Might get some extra doe tags if I fill everything before the late doe season.

I can't wait so I'm going squirrel hunting next week instead. I have my mom's old 20 gauge bolt action that I haven't even shot yet, and a bunch of ammo. I have a case of ammo for my 12 gauge auto too. Even if I don't see anything I can burn up some ammo and enjoy the smell of the smoke. I have to lock my dog up in the truck so he doesn't freak out and run away.

I just got really enthused after the buck I seen tonight while out scouting. Monster. 8 points on one side and 7 on the other. Made the shooter 8 point that was with him look positively juvenile. Huge, huge deer. Oh I hope I can get a shot at him this year. He would look fantastic on the wall.

I try to scout out the deer pretty extensively leading up to the season and don't take a buck unless he's one I've previously picked out or really, really big. Passed on a really nice 8 last year because I seen a much bigger 12 that was hanging around the CRP. Didn't get either one.

You need to buy yourself some of the new "Deer-o-flouge"...it makes the hard to kill bucks give up early and let you have a shot at them......price is right!

Antelope season opens a week from TODAY!.It's been pretty warm here --mid to high 80's---but it cooled own last night and rained.Forecast is for cooler temps all next week.
Good luck everyone...and be careful!
