Default Deer Season

It cooled down alright!!!!!!!High tomorrow of 33 forecast..and SNOW.I plan on riding the Polaris over to the neighbor's and just "camping" for a few hours. (I have written permission to ride there)There's an area on a knoll, under some pine trees, that overlooks a small water tank and some open country.I've seen a couple decent bucks hanging around..and chasing does.
I can't walk much at all so I'll stay close to the ATV.I'll have a folding chair, and may take an old sleeping bag to throw across my lap if the wind comes up.
I'll be shooting a custom 6.5X06 built on a 700 Remington......
Wish me luck!

Lucky season for the antelope here. I had a doe tag for first rifle season. Got a shot off at one but in a wicked cross wind I missed just right. Oh well, beats working.

The rest of the year is all small game for me now. Next year I have preference points for both antelope and deer.......

It has been quite cool here but today was downright warm. I was out scouting/turkey hunting and was uncomfortably warm in the afternoon.

Missouri.

Youth season started today so I took my cousin's boy out today. Saw a couple bucks and a dozen or so does. Not any I want him to shoot. I want him to get one of the big ones I've seen. He was all set to shoot a big 8 but it was just too dark by the time he had the shot. I really wanted him to wait anyway. There is a really, really nice 10 running around I'd like him to get. There is a freaking huge 15 I've been seeing too. I kinda want that one for my living room wall but I'd be just as happy to see him get it.

Teach the kids, keep the the tradition alive! I try to get at least one new hunter started every year, but the anti gun folks or not making it easy.I did get a young man started in bow hunting last season.

Well opening day came and gone...no luck, timber company came in a week before season, and thinned the pine plantations, and left little cover. I will need to move at least two stands. My buddy took a 8 pt,and his bro. got a 7,not very big first year bucks1 1/2 yr olds...Did not see a deer at all. Saw more erecting stands before the season, well it will be long as our season goes for 70 days,so I have plenty of time.
