Default Newbe, 07 Sportsman 500 x2 Looking for help

Joined this forum because it looked like it could be really helpful. Piece of wood poked hole in oil box. Ran out of oil & didn't know it. Slowlyl died, now will not start. Looking for suggestions on where to start.

so did you actually end up driving the engine with out oil in it for any distance with out knowing it? if so there could a lot of issues, guess you could start with a comp check but there is no way of knowing what the inside looks like, fill it back up run it for say a half hour and drain the oil into a clean container and see what it looks like, it may look metalic with alot of silver in it from the parts wearing while the engine was ran with out oil in it. if it wont start im guessing it may not have any compression.

Default Checked compression

Compression gauge said about 50 psi and didn't leak off much. Don't know how much psi I should have. Replaced oil box, put in new oil. I got spark but still no start.

My son was riding it and it slowly just died. Not sure how far he drove with "no oil". The hole in the oil box was at the front of the box in the middle. I think the oil return line comes in at the top of the box and the oil gradually ran out the hole. It was about 1.5" long by 3/4" wide hole. Not sure about working oil light. Can't say I've really noticed it before. It's all that LCD screen. Not like it's a red oil light.

Also motor seems to turn over fine, sounds OK, no suspicious noise.
