Default 2002 Honda Recon having trouble to start when cold

Hi all, I need help with my used 2002 Honda Recon 250 es that I just bought, I did all the maintenance on it like motor oil change differential oil change spark plug and filter, also do I need to do valve adjustment and how often do I need to do it? But the main concern is that I’m having problem starting when its cold I pull the choke all the way up and takes me 3 to 4 times to crank it up then finally starts, what could be the problem? When worm starts fine.

Thanks

I have owned 7 carbeurated Honda machines over the years. IT doesn't sound like there's anything particularly wrong here. All the ones I have owned (and the three I still own) need the choke to start when they are cold.

Question is, if you run it until its warmed up then shut it off, will you need to use the choke then? It should start without choke when warm. If you need the choke when its warm, then there may be something wrong with the Carb. Usually cleaning it out, or just draining thw bowl and refilling will help.

But these engines are known to start rough in the cold but once its starts, it will run forever. Good luck.

Some people size up the pilot jet for cold weather. Every atv/bike I've ever owned hated the cold. They seem to start easier in low humidity, too. Little starting fluid in the carb helps.
