New to this Site Very confused!!
Hello everyone,
sorry to bother all of you but I am trying to figure out how to post correctly on this site.
I have just purchased a 2005 Polaris sportsman 700 Twin for my 14 year old son. He has been riding since he was 8 yrs old and can handle the 700.
My question is..... should I take it to dealer to change fluids and a basic check-up?
I purchased it from a friend (original owner) last week. It only has 42 hours on it (235 miles)
Please let me know what your thoughts are.
Also, Would like to change fluids myself (if needed at this time). Can a novice attempt it
Mike
I sincerely appreciate your help!

Welcome to the forums.
First, get a factory service manual. Best investment you can make, and you can get them fairly cheaply on ebay. Some on the site here might even have a pdf you can download free.
If you're not sure, go to youtube and just search what you're wanting to do. Lots of videos people have put out, and watching them will help you know what you're looking for and what to do.
It's ok to be a little apprehensive. No one ever knew just how to do something. Just don't be afraid to try. All the routine stuff is just that. Once you've done it, you wonder why you would take it to a dealer. Now if it's something a little more serious, then you have to judge your skill level. There are certain things I know I can't do.
Good luck.
