Default Hi guys. Solenoid wiring question

Hi there. We had to replace the solenoid on our 1996 Polaris Scrambler ATV. Now - no matter what we do, we cannot get the engine to crank. We can hear something when we try to start it, but it never turns over at all. Is there a possibility that we could have put the positive battery cable on the wrong side of the starter relay (solenoid)? I don't want to burn anything up

How do I tell the Positive side of a solenoid? Any suggestions? Would appreciate any input we can get. Thank you! Tammy

Really doesn't matter as it's a switch.Wires can go on either post and once triggered by the small ignition switch wire power is jumped to the other side.Normally the battery wire goes to the right post(closest to the battery) starter wire to the left post. If the solenoid is clicking, making noise, check with a test light or volt meter to the starter wire. If it has power possibly starter is bad. You don't say if it's a 400 or 500,but no matter this place has them both. Best in most cases to replace the starter bendix also. DB Electrical - Scrambler Plus check ebay also.
