Prairie KAPS Transmission problems
#1
I have a 97 Prairie 400 4X4 and I have had major trans problems. The belt wore out the pulleys and all associated parts. My dealer says that it was just normal wear and tear. I contacted Kawasaki only to be told that the belt needed to be adjusted by the dealer monthly, at my expense. Have others had the same problems or do I ride too much???

I have a Praire 300 New in 99 and have already replaced the belt within 8 months of purchase. It was very disappointing. The new belt seems sturdier and I didn't understand why it was already glazed so bad. I have not had problems since. I can change the belt in under an hour so no worries about labor. Don't like that I have to take the brake off but that's life. I still love my Praire.

I have always thought of Kawasaki as one of the top innovative co.'s in the industry. They have a great riding machine, just poorly designed. I have heard that the newer models have a better system. That does help mine. I have owned my LAST Kawasaki. All I expected was some assistance not total replacement.
