Default V force this, kfx 700 that. Does anybody still talk about mojaves! Nobody will answer my question!

I tested the leads and i was getting 12 v at idle but when i rev it like 40 v. I talked to mechanics and they said the regulator is shot. Just incase you dont no the regs job is to hold the power at 12 v. i got a new reg and it still does the same thing. The only other thing i can think of is that there is a short somewhere in the circutry. please help!

Just had the same problem on a 91 250 with a 350 x motor in it and it is was the voltage regulator.
It would work at idel but then blow when you rev it up.
You might have gotten a bad one to replace your old one or it might be hooked up wrong.

Sorry thats all the help I can give.

Did you check the headlight fluid? I hear Mojaves often develop leaks in the headlight fluid seal!!!!

After you installed your new regulator did you check the voltage again? Just because its new doesnt meen its right. I have wasted lots of time in the past working with new parts that didnt work. I would assume that since its new that couldnt be the problem. I was wrong most of the time.
