ds650 vs. raptor vs. v-force

SpinCycle the mags are so inconsitent i dont see how you can take what they say to heart. It even suprises me more seeing how you own a DS and the mags never give that quad the credit it deserves siding with them. I remember Dirtwheels saying "If we had to choose one machine to do everything on this would be it." . I dont take what the mags say to heart or anything because of there inconsistences, but seeing how you do i just wanted to quote that.

OK, cool. Here's my opinion on the V, it's a great bike. It's fast, it handles well, what more do you need? The automatic is not for me, I think it would just get boring after awhile. As for why the V does so much better on turf and high traction surfaces the answer is easy! It takes a very skilled hand to modulate a clutch launching a bike at high rpm when the traction is good, you have to slip the clutch just the right amount to get forward motion but not too much to cause the front to lift. The V force does this for you and it works great. All you have to do is work the throttle. Now when the traction goes away (sand or gravel) You can just drop the clutch and let the wheels go to town. The V loses it's advantage on the soft surface because there is not as big a need for a good hand on the clutch lever. I'm sure that the V force will really come alive when someone gets the clutch to lock at 400-500 rpm prior to peak torque and stay locked until peak HP. Someone may have to Dyno the engine away from the auto trans to get good numbers to go by, not sure if you dyno with the auto in place that you would be very close. The answers for getting a V force to rock is in that clutch just ask the guys that race sleds. Now for me, I ride sand, my DS has never been on anything but sand. Nope, not ever. The V force lacks something there so it just wouldn't work for me.
Sportyrock, I probably wouldn't mess with you if you didn't stand on your soap box and preach that the V Force was the master of all it surveyed. On more than one occasion you have stated that a V Force will kill a Raptor, DS, Banshee just about everything out there. I love that! Maybe you should go find a DS to race.. As for the mags, it's amazing how they constantly complain about the DS being heavy but each time they line one up it comes out in front even on a radar gun...

I love the DS and would like to have one, as with the raptor and banshee. Heck im gettin a 2nd wheeler and its kinda hard choosing between the 3. Each have there minor ups and downs. I will prolly get a raptor because of price..

Very well said spincyle!! I like that too, how they complain of they weight of the DS, but everytime it's in the front of the rest of the quads and the radar gun. Those radar guns don't lie!!!!

Despite usually being the fastest and having the best suspension the DS always seems to come in last in the shootouts. Its my opinion that the test riders are too scrawny to handle the DS or the V and therefore are always going to give it a bad review. What I'd like to see is a shootout with the testers all being taller than 6' and over 220lbs.

Spin, I love the DS if i could i would own a V, DS, Raptor, Prarie 700, and one of the YFZ 450s. I will one day. I live on the east coast and we dont see alot of DS there just not popular here because of there size and lack of reverse. Im sure the V will not be very popular in the dunes, just like the DS isnt in the tight woods were i ride. So you see we all have different preferences and we choice are quad by not what is the better performing but what fits are needs the best. FOr me it is the V for you the DS.
