ChaosInMt:

Canadians make fun of our own military but we do it sarcastically. If we wanted to our military could do something, not likes the states but Iceland will not take over Canada even if they wanted too, I doubt Russia could.

I will pay my taxes thank you and get my free health care and freedom in the world, tired about hearing the USA this and that crap. Canadians have it best and thats final, Canadians may not know it but we are so damn lucky, so are the people in the states and japan and all other developed countries. Lets try living like some African countries for a few decades, lol, you will be selling body parts to go back to the life you had. You would even ask for a terrorist bombing if only it could be back to normal, thats how lucky everyone has it.

Most of us in the USA have full Medical insurance just the bums dont and they get it for free already. You are getting sucked dry by the socialist with next to nothing to show for it not even a way to defend yourselves .What if Iceland or a well armed boyscout troop atcked ? You can always call France for help.
My sister and her husband are self-employed and live in Vermont. She has to pay $500 a month for crappy coverage with huge deductibles - it really sucks!! What I do like in the American system is the level of service in the hospitals. My wife had to go to the emergency room in a Bennington, VT hospital last summer. It's almost worth getting hurt to experience it at least once. The great service and the way we were treated was out of this world, compared to Canadian hospitals. Sure, it cost $1000 Can for several tests and 3 hours in emergency, but it was worth it.

Canada can relax in knowing they will never be attacked. The United States would make sure of that, there is no way we would stand by and let a country be invaded that is that close to us. The Canadian goverment dont even need an Army and they know it, thats why they dont spend much on it. We will take care of it with our tax dollars (and the liberals can complain about how we are doing it wrong).

I wasn't going to get into this aww, but what the heck. Canada pays taxes to Ottawa and to Washington. %50 of commodities come to Canada via the US border, taxes who says we don't pay US taxes. overtime I order something from the US it costs me double the US listed price to have it at my door. Our military although rather minute compared to other countries is one of the best trained combat units in the world. My wife was military for 27 years recently retired we had some interesting times. We have worked hand in hand with US troops in the past and I am not ashamed to admit our involvement. We serve a piece keeping role where the US does not. Who goes into the war torn countries after there has been total devastation,...........Canadian Military. We are all over the world helping many countries to regain some self respect and no one hears about their struggles. In the last 2 world wars Canada was involved right from the start as we are a Commonwealth Country. Might I remind you Canada fought long and hard for 3 years in both wars before the US decided to get involved. Just because we didn't get into this last skirmish doesn't mean that we didn't want to. Our elustrious Priminister decided not to. The US is a mighty military force no doubting this, but can it look after 4 sides of a large country for very long..........I don't think so. We watch your back as much as you watch ours. I will defend my country with a pitch fork if need be and you can bet I would use that same pitch fork to defend your country as well. Only because you have good stuff LOL.

I lost 4 uncles to the last war, my wife was involved in 10 hot zones I hardly slept for 11 years worrying about her. Have we all paid the price for freedom..........I think so. You don't have to worry about your back door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said alltoys--- I was in the Canadian military for 9 years (a long time ago) and I'm a damn proud Canadian! The U.S. has the money to afford tremendous firepower, but given the same equipment, man for man Canadians have proven to be as good as anyone. Our armed forces are respected around the world for their work and because we aren't an aggressive nation. Love him or hate him, Prime Minister Chretien did go to Washington and tell the Bush administration that without NATO's approval we would not get involved in an attack on Iraq as it isn't our policy to attack someone without proof, so it shouldn't have been any surprise to the U.S. that Canada kept their word when the U.S. attacked Iraq (against the NATO alliance's wishes) anyway. If any proof of "weapons of mass destruction" had been found, we would have been there (along with France and nearly all of the NATO countries). Once the war was started it was obvious that they didn't need our help, but we still sent our minute navy to inspect suspect ships, and if it had gotten ugly, I'm sure we'd have sent troops. Regardless of whether you think our government was right or wrong, it makes me angry to hear of Canadians being snubbed by Americans---like we had a choice!!! Be mad at the Liberal government if you don't agree (many Canadians were mad at them too) but don't take it out on us individually. We (our government) may not always agree with your government's foreign policy, but if you are attacked, you know damn well that we'll be there for you! Now that I've got that off my chest, lets get back to being friends discussing ATVs.

You won't find too many Canadians who aren't loyal. Like I said in a previous post, I am a proud Canadian---------- an overtaxed one, but still proud to be Canadian. It really pisses me off to see how much money the government sucks off our checks every two weeks, and how pathetic our military equipment is compared to other nations of comparable size. Yes, we have well trained troops, but our equipment is old, outdated, and in serious need of an upgrade. They had a multinational military training operation near my place last year and who was the largest force there? The Americans. Canada has a proud military record, but our government has no plans to keep it that way. They will continue to underfund our military and will do nothing to try to give our troops the equipment they need. I'm done.

The point was its SOCIALISM dont you get it ? Like Russia used to be. Or is that what you guys are after ? You can Work all your life to support the bums its all right with me. But dont expect me to in any way support SOCIALISM in the USA . What are you guys trying to do reverse evolution the stupid, week and the bums should die out and the smart and strong should move on. I dont fell like living my life to further the evolution of the bums. If if SOCIALISM is what you are after we have plenty of extra bums to send your way.( We call them liberals or fools )

mastrblastr, the Liberals have never spent enough on the military, and I can't see a change of the federal government any time soon unless the Conservatives and Reform parties join forces (we can only hope). Even then, with our small population for the size of this country, our taxes will probably have to stay high to get the military up to par. As high as they seem, we are a lot better off here than most other countries. I'd rather pay more taxes than be over populated and have no place to ride.
Just thank ChaosinMontana (fitting name) for his open-minded view of our government. Come on Chaos--- Canada is run by socialists---the same as Russia used to be??? There are fragments of socialism in our federal liberal democratic system, which has pros and cons, but to say its the same as Russia was---hardly! Our health care system is a sort of socialist system where we all pay in and all are covered. The downside---if you don't need it, its a waste of money. Some people abuse the system which costs us all. It is expensive and sometimes overloaded from cutbacks which create waiting lists for treatment. The upside---You have coverage for all types of treatment even if you do have to wait. AND most importantly, if something were to happen to you, its nice to know you won't have to sell your house to pay the hospital bill. Its not perfect by any means and can always be improved, but most Canadians are glad we have it. Individual medical insurance works too, but usually is even more expensive, and I'd hate to think what would happen if you forgot to pay it or couldn't afford it when you needed it. You don't have to be a bum to have bad luck and hit hard times.
